Oklahoma School Psychological Association Presents



Legal Issues relating to the No Child Left Behind Act and the IDEA reauthorization: School Psychology's Expanding Role



Andrea R. Kunkel, Attorney at Law



Legal and ethical issues form a centerpiece of our work. This workshop will focus on the changes schools should anticipate and prepare for as a result of the No child Left Behind Act. Participants will acquire an understanding of the 2003 reauthorization of IDEA, and of the subsequent changing roles of school psychologists due to legislative and policy changes, as well as judicial and administrative decisions. Topics will include but are not limited to evaluations, eligibility, medications, supplemental services, and discipline procedures.

Andrea R. Kunkel is a shareholder with Rosenstein, fist & Ringold, where she has practiced law since 1986. Her primary areas of practice are special education and education law. Ms. Kunkel earned her bachelor of arts and juris doctor degrees from the University of Tulsa. She has served as the President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma School Board Attorneys Association. She is also a former president of the Tulsa Women Lawyers Association and has been awarded the President's Award by the Tulsa County Bar Association four times for her community and law-related projects. She currently serves on the National School boards Association IDEA Reauthorization Committee. Ms. Kunkel is a frequent author and lecturer on special education issues and has handled hundreds of special education cases on behalf of Oklahoma public schools.

WISC-IV Training



Dr. Marsha Johnson



This training session will focus on the overview of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth Edition. Participants will be instructed in the organization and content, technical qualities, administration and scoring, and interpretive options of the WISC-IV.

Dr. Marsha Johnson, Clinical Measurement Consultant with The Psychological Corporation has teaching, testing, counseling, and administration experience in many school settings, including
preschool through graduate levels. Dr. Johnson is a graduate of Auburn University in Alabama, and most recently was employed by the Alabama Department of Education where she worked with issues in programs such as special education, Title I, bilingual education, and curriculum
development.
