The Problem Solving Model (PSM) is a systematic approach for delivering services to students and schools. Within a PSM framework the primary goal is to identify the variables necessary to improve outcomes for students. Through a process of defining the problem, problem analysis, designing and implementing an intervention, and monitoring the effectiveness of the intervention, educators are able provide an appropriate match between the student and the instructional setting. Randy Allison has served as Director of Special Education, Coordinator of Support Services for Educational Results, and Supervisor of School Psychological Services with Heartland AEA 11 in Iowa. Randy has worked extensively with special education support staff, local district teachers, and school administrators on transformation at both the individual and systems level. Randy has consulted with a number of school districts in numerous states as they work toward the development of problem solving and data-based decision making systems. Randy served as a school psychologist in Iowa for 13 years. He was a two term state delegate to the National Association of School Psychologists, and has served on or chaired several NASP committees and task forces.
